Innovation Fund Foundation Logo Concepts
The Innovation Fund Foundation, Inc. was founded to support the work of the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement. The Foundation exists to improve student achievement in Georgia by funding innovative partnerships to redesign public education. The organization provides financial support for innovation by matching private donations with state-appropriated dollars. While at Georgia Public Broadcasting, I was asked to reimagine the Innovation Fund Foundation’s Logo as they geared up to launch a round of new initiatives. The following are four logo concepts that took inspiration from specific aspects of the IFF mission.
CONCEPT #1 | BLOCK
Concept #1 (Block) was focused on looking at very specific imagery associated with classrooms and education. The logo design borrows very primary centered colors and seeks to provide IFF with a “solid” yet “youthful” brand. The final design evokes that of building blocks forming to create the IFF logo signaling IFF’s mission to build on already existing education initiatives. Keep Calm Medium serves as the primary logotype.
CONCEPT #2 | LIGHTBULB
Concept #2 (Lightbulb) was inspired by the innovative spirit of IFF. As new initiatives are formulated, heavy emphasis on brainstorming the possibilities goes into the creative process. The logo evokes imagery of a sparking lightbulb suggesting the ingenuity of the IFF team. The “IFF” slants upward evoking positivity and IFF’s can do spirit. The logo utilizes a vibrant and bold color palette to inject fun and vitality into the IFF brand. The primary logotype is Gotham Rounded Bold.
CONCEPT #3 | ROBOT
Concept #3 (Robot) was inspired by IFF’s focus on tech. As new technologies like AR and VR become commonplace in the classroom, IFF seeks to continue to provide a future forward experience for students. This logo would brand IFF as tech-oriented while giving it a friendly mascot. The “IFF” acronym features in the robot’s visor and has potential for mainly motion applications. The primary logotype for this design is Bariol.
CONCEPT #4 | DIAMOND
Concept #4 (Diamond) as inspired by IFF’s focus on the possibilities. The design looks to the print color theory and utilizing cyan, magenta, yellow, and black as its palette. The IFF letters form a diamond similarly to a color prism suggesting that anything is possible through IFF. This application would give IFF a timeless and emblematic feel while maintaining the inventiveness of the organization.
